HEALTHCARE

OUR HEALTHCARE MISSION

At Light of Life Trust, India (LOLT), we firmly believe that a healthy body is needed to have a strong mind to facilitate learning. Healthcare is a core tenet of our program. We invest in the health of the students, their families, and their communities. Additionally, our partnerships with local hospitals and empowered community members allow us bring increased services in the form of health, dental, and vision camps

Our Medical Mobile Units (MMU), through it’s reach, allows us to provide access to preventative, diagnostic, and surgical  healthcare services.

Each visit to the MMU costs $5. Operating one MMU for a year costs $26,000. Last year, across our 3 MMU’s, we were able to serve 15,000 patients across 50 villages!

Donate to support the continued operations of our Medical Mobile Unit.

How We Serve

PREVENTATIVE

Staffed with a doctor, nurse and social worker, the MMU  travels daily to provide preventative care for the children and families in remote communities. The MMU staff provides immunizations, iron and multivitamin supplements.  They also hold regular information sessions on topics relevant to the community such as HIV, AIDS, Tuberculosis and Breastfeeding.

LOLT students pursuing a Bachelor’s in Optometry add to the preventative offering by organizing  regular eye checkup camps.
