EDUCATION

Our

   Education

      Mission

A longer school day and government sponsored mid-day meals created an incentive for rural, marginalized, and poor families to let their children attend elementary school. However, at the middle school level, these children were susceptible to dropping out, to either help on the farm or to get married. At Light of Life Trust, India (LOLT), we are committed to the success of the most vulnerable students, ensuring their continued education and a path to employment. We believe that it is through a holistic education that each child is able to realize their unique potential. Our programs support their cognitive, emotional, and physical development.

Mind & Body Wellness

Mental Strength

Weekend meditation sessions, leadership camps, and counseling for students and their parents, help students realize their own inner strengths and potential to achieve success.

Physical Fitness

Kids receive weekend training and holiday training in different sports and group fitness activities like Karate and Yoga. In many of the regions we serve, there is also an annual sports day to celebrate the student’s physical fitness and build team spirit.

Medical Wellbeing

Annually, we offer free physical and vision exams to students in these rural villages, who would otherwise not have access to a medical facility. Many are found to be malnourished, vitamin deficient, or suffering from parasites. With LOLT’s proactive work, students bodies are healthy and equipped to learn.

Art, Music, Creative Growth

Break Stereotypes

We encourage all our children regardless of gender to participate in all arts and crafts. They find joy in their ability to create and are proud of their skills.

Build Through Music

Our Art & Music Education provides a platform for students to develop skills and expertise in the performing arts. Dedicated music and dance teachers, along with the social workers form a strong team that guides students to overcome challenges. The children showcase their talent in the annual Kalpatru program.

Develop Creativity

Crafts- like candle making and making bags from recycled newspapers are just a few examples of weekend crafts to engage kids and stimulate their creativity. Some students use these creative skills to earn an income during their vacation.

Academic Excellence

After School Education

We have teachers and social workers that work with the most vulnerable children after school to tutor, counsel, and empower them to study and achieve their dreams.

Empower the Educator

Teachers are trained in effective classroom processes and modern teaching techniques, so they can support and empower the children in small rural schools.

Interactive Learning

From basic computer classes to e-Learning smartboards, we are preparing students for the jobs of today. The interactive nature of smartboards and software based classes engages children and is very effective in improving their reading and math skills.
